Schiaparelli
As designers, we spend a lot of time thinking and listening to the women in our lives and talking to them. How do they dress in their daily lives? What makes them feel unique and comfortable? What do they want from their clothes?

I’ve observed that the women I know almost never dress to please men, and when they do, it’s other women who are more important to them. When they do dress up, it’s often for other women, and female praise is more important to them. elsa Schiaparelli also doesn’t care much about male attention – she’s collaborated with many male artists, designing with them, but it’s not to seek their attention. attention.

This realization inspired me to create a series of closets that show the essential contradictions of women’s lives: how to embody masculine characteristics while incorporating divine feminine softness? How to make them feel like they are in charge of their lives when they need to be …… without having to sacrifice their inner tenderness? How can I satisfy their needs when they prefer a simple style …… or an ornate baroque style?

The tension and contrast between masculine and feminine, submissive and in control, flamboyant and minimalist, give the collection a paradoxical poetry. In fact, these contradictory qualities inspired our choice of fabrics: tough, classic cowboy boots are given a feminine, polished curve; embossed leather, another cowboy staple, is revitalized in belts, boots and bags; and a clutch bag that looks like it’s made of forged brass is actually a specially treated leather. There is softness underneath the hardness, and vice versa.

The collection’s interest comes from the juxtaposition of contradictory elements, the playfulness of mise-en-scène and unconventional proportions. Enlarged down motifs are flocked onto double-faced satin and embossed onto spongy neoprene velvet; slouchy shoulder totes are reconstructed in epic proportions as if they could hold everything a woman would need to walk the earth; soft Soufflé bags are embellished with hundreds of glittering gold studs; and straight skirts in heavy jacquard fabrics are made of feather-light, pure ivory yarns; Flocked tights look constricting but have the mobility of leggings. The iconic gold jewelry is made lighter, with classic symbols (eyes, nose, keyhole) revitalized in gold metal chandelier earrings and necklaces. The silhouettes pay homage to my childhood in Texas, where I had already begun to study the visual symbols of the region: classic ranch fashions such as duster jackets, baggy jeans, Red Wing cowboy boots, and oversized denim belt buckles (featuring the brand’s iconic keyholes and lobsters) are reinterpreted in the designs. These items, once born out of pragmatism, have become distinctive style icons over the years.

There is a deeper meaning behind this series. In this post-social media era, many of us have grown tired of living through screens and we have begun to ask for the meaning of life. Meaning comes from recognizing the things in our lives that are still precious – the people or things that cannot be replicated. These objects and people must be experienced and felt firsthand. Over the past few months, I have chosen to listen more than to tell, longing to design pieces that inspire, treasures that can never be replicated by fast fashion. The women in my life shine like lone stars – they are unique and irreplaceable. May they, and may all women, find the same resonance between these garments.
