Maison Margiela and Gentle Monster have teamed up once again to launch the 2025 eyewear collection. The collection will be launched in stores worldwide on March 6, 2025, with a visual program and limited-time art spaces in multiple locations to interpret the new theme in an immersive experience.

As the third chapter in the creative dialog between the two brands, the 2025 collection focuses on the intersection of classicism and futurism. Inspired by Maison Margiela’s ongoing exploration of the contemporary connection between craftsmanship and digital technology, as well as Gentle Monster’s pioneering insights, the collection is a visual juxtaposition of the familiar and the unknown. 2025 presents twenty eyewear designs, eight sunglasses and twelve optical lenses, reimagining classic silhouettes with the core aesthetic of Cyber. The 2025 co-branded collection features twenty eyewear designs, including eight sunglasses and twelve optical lenses, reimagining classic silhouettes with a Cybercore aesthetic.

Directed by renowned photographer Jordan Hemingway, the visual program explores the mysterious allure of alienation and attraction between humans and mechanical bionics. Using still images as a vehicle for the Maison Margiela Spring/Summer 2025 Avant-Premiere pre-collection, the collection focuses on the MM201 metal sunglasses, highlighting a three-dimensional constructed aesthetic.

The MM201 square metal sunglasses are laser-cut from a single piece of material in a futuristic nod to the brand’s iconic L’Incognitos collection of 2008. The sunglasses feature a rimless, mask-like, architectural silhouette and are available in silver and green, while the MM202 and MM203 continue their visual language with a narrow, goggle-like silhouette in black and silver acetate, and a futuristic silhouette with a smooth curve from the lens to the temple, in black, silver, and red.MM204 and MM205 deconstruct the traditional, elegant oval silhouette with square edges and a mechanical construction. The MM204 and MM205 deconstruct the traditional oval silhouette with square edges, presenting a mechanical configuration in black, navy blue, red and gray.
Three wide-legged sunglasses reinvigorate the classic shape: the MM206, in a narrow oval shape, is available in all black, with brown lenses on black frames and in red leather; the MM207 is an enlarged interpretation of the traditional rectangular sunglasses, in black, navy blue and tortoiseshell; and the MM208 reinvents the classic cat’s eye silhouette with its sharp lines and is available in black, red and grey. There are also three ultra-light structured frames that can be switched between gold-framed sunglasses and silver-framed optics: the almond-shaped MM216; the angular oval MM218; and the ultra-narrow oval MM220 with wire temples (also available in gold-framed optics and blue-lens sunglasses).
The optics collection also includes two rimless, ultra-lightweight structures connected by gold or silver links: the oval MM217 and the MM219 with wire temples and kite-shaped lenses. four optics are designed with wide temples and narrowed at the hinge for a futuristic reinterpretation of classic shapes, including the classic oval MM209 (black, graphite grey, tortoiseshell), the narrow, slightly rectangular MM210 (MM213 features an elongated cat-eye silhouette with wide temples (black, semi-permeable storm gray, tortoiseshell). Two other eyewear models are available with silver logo wire temples, one in a soft cat-eye shape (black, translucent storm gray, red) and the other with wide round lenses (black, brown, tortoiseshell).
To celebrate the launch of this collaborative collection, themed art installations inspired by Cyber’s core aesthetic will be presented in limited-time spaces around the world. Abstract sculptures of human figures are harmoniously balanced in a secret world of native textures and translucent materials, while the juxtaposition of massive volumes and restrained dynamics evokes a sense of tension. The signature wire temples of the eyewear work are also skillfully integrated into the spatial structure, forming a complete and unified aesthetic narrative.
